Rockin’ Around the Region
Live tonight at The Blind Tiger, located at 1819 Spring St., Greensboro, NC, it is Lala Lala. Also on stage tonight will be Palm and Girlpool. Doors open at 7 pm. Music starts at 8 pm and this is a general admission show with tickets available at the door for $10.00.

Beer & Banjos Showcase at Raleigh Time Bar, 14 E Hargett St., Raleigh, NC, will offer the music of Derek W Curtis. Come out and support live music, and dance tonight. Music starts at 8 pm.

The A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute will present excerpts from classic repertoire in a fully staged and costumed performance, with creative use of chairs serving as the various scenic locales and supported by atmospheric lighting: creative minimalism to focus the eye and ear on our talented performers. World-renowned coach Warren Jones will serve as Music Director and A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute Artistic Director, Nicholas Muni will design and direct the production. This performance will be held at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts~ Kennedy Theater and brought to us thanks to the good food folks at Ello Raw.
The theater is located at 2 E South St., Raleigh, NC. Doors open at 6:30 pm and show starts at 7:30 pm, for tickets follow me here:

This weeks Featured Artists are Cody Braxton and Tyler Davis, starting at 7:30 here at Tapped650. It is supposed to be a gorgeous night out! It’s a perfect night to bring your friends and family, enjoy the patio area and grab a brew or two. Just sit back and relax while listening to the sounds of local entertainment at its finest.
Featured Artists Night, always starts late enough to come out after dinner and ends early enough to be back home at a decent hour on a weeknight!
REMEMBER: Not only is this Featured Artist’s Night it is also KICK THE KEG night, where they are trying to empty out some of the kegs and you can save $$$$$. Talk to your bar staff about what they have on special.
Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month features musicians anywhere from Raleigh to the coast. These talented individuals will be performing mini-shows of about an hour. Hopefully this will garner them some extra experience, showcase their talents and give them the exposure they need to move on.
The next Featured Artists Night will be November 21st and will feature the talents of Kassidy Blount and Will Stovall.

There is a Bluegrass Jam going down tonight at Lorraine’s Coffee House & Music, 101 Timber Pointe Ln., Garner, NC. This is a kid friendly, family oriented event and all are welcome to bring your banjos, beat boxes or plain ol talent of any sort, out for a night of fun starting at 7:30 pm.

Tuesday marks Open Mic Night at TailGaters Sports Bar, 2645 E Millbrook Suite A, Raleigh, NC. All levels of players are welcome. Come out, sign up and display your talent tonight.

City Soul Cafe Open Mic is the premiere spoken word open mic in the Triangle!
City Soul Cafe and Visionary Networking Circle are teaming up to spotlight businesses in the triangle area. Our goal is to create opportunities to network and gain knowledge about local businesses that serve our community. On the second Wednesday of each month we will have 1-3 different businesses that will be spotlighted. The mixer will run 8:30-9:00pm. You will also be able to interact and shop with the vendor during the open mic. This is a great opportunity to network, get your name out there and hear some amazing poetry all in the same night!

They host an Open Mic event each Wednesday at Silo’s Restaurant, located at 1111 Broad St., Oriental, NC. Music is offered from 7-10 pm and all are welcome to come out and show their talent.

Right here in my hometown, they are now hosting open mic each Wednesday at La Rosa Italian Restaurant, in the bar and lounge, 1503 Glenburnie Rd., New Bern, NC. Local rocker, Justin Hargett hosts and the jams going about 10 pm and they rock til closing at about 1:30 am. Come out and say hey to John Morgan and check out his new digs soon. Morgan stepped in three weeks ago as manager with an offer to buy later down the road. Should that happen, Morgan is thinking One Eyed Jack’s. and many great things. In the meantime, as he works toward that goal, he opens for business Monday – Saturday 3 pm til closing. On Sundays, doors open at 1 pm for the games and great drink specials. Come say hey, today to Tiffany and John tonight! After supper in my favorite restaurant around!

On The Scene With Tracey Stones
On Friday night I gathered with some sweet and talented friends, as they got together for a fun and an impromptu rehearsal for a new bands forth coming to the scene. The Cover Girls is a new band in the beginning stages, that will feature three female vocalists and three acoustic guitar players. The band will offer the vocal offerings of Laura McCalister, Fleeta Griffin, and Tracey Brenneman. The trio already works well doing voice work with Mimic Band. Offering up the music will be Chris McCalister, Tom Spellman (these two players work together also in Second Helping and Mimic Band. New to the mix will be the talent Vinny Farro. The six piece ensemble is still working out their set list and I would expect more news on this front after the run of the year.

There is a great history wrapped up in the mix. Laura McCalister is Tom Spellman’s mother and wife of Chris McCalister, they also perform in other band projects including Mimic and Second Helping. Second Helping is an awesome Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute band, who actually have a gig coming up this Saturday as part of The Fall Ball 17 an event to benefit The Edgecombe Community Developmental School. The event kicks off at 7:30 pm this Saturday evening and offers a full musical line up, with many great bands to rock you through the night. This event is held annually at the Gray Farms on 750 Racetrack Rd LaGrange, NC. All proceeds go to the Edgewood Community Developmental Schools. Hosted by Randy Gray.

For those looking forward to another installment of Dan Jam with Dan Jam Phillips, mark the calendar for Sunday, November 26, 2017. That is when Phillips returns with his good friends to jam the night away on the patio at Harvey Mansion, 221 S Front St, New Bern, NC.

Tom Spellman is often found at the weekly open mic nights hosted by Justin Hargett here around town. These days the event is being housed in One Eyed Jacks, 1503 Glenburnie Rd., New Bern. They take to rocking souls about 10 pm each Wednesday. When performing solo, Spellman has been known to ask friends to join the fun of his musical nights. You can catch another fun night of Tom Spellman and Friends, live on the patio on Saturday, January 27, 2018. That show will happen from 8-11 pm.
