~ MumFest Weekend Music Offerings ~
The vendors were hard at work last night, getting things in place to welcome citizens and tourists to the downtown area of New Bern NC, for the MumFest 2017. This event started last night with a ceremonial welcome concer,t brought to us by the city. The two and a half day event offers much to all who attend today and throughout the day on Sunday.
Being most concerned about the music offerings at any fair or festival, here is a direct link on what our town will be offering the visitors this year.

Just to break it down, be sure to walk about town and take in the sounds of our many street musicians who will be found here and there, in front of storefronts, on corners and in the alley ways too, around Bear Plaza for example. We have a talented group of citizens and many of them will be on display for you to enjoy. Be sure to take the time to visit the Beer Garden on Craven and Front and Bank of the Arts on Middle, both offer local and live music offerings for all to enjoy.

Believe it or not, I know many of the bands playing on these bills and wherever you end up, you will be delightfully entertained. I just wish someone from our MumFest Committee would let me assist this town in setting times and music schedules. It would be a lot different and there would be an opportunity for every artist to be seen, by any serious music fans in the crowd. I feel they are doing the performers an injustice by scheduling like events (such as live music events) at the same time in different locations. Since cloning did not catch on, people still can’t be at two places at once, just ask the blogger who tries! I bet I catch most acts as well as a few in between.
Speaking of the in between, let’s walk through the town and highlight the live music options taking place in our bars and restaurants here around town.

This afternoon on the patio at Harvey Mansion, 221 S Front St., New Bern, NC, you can enjoy the acoustic sounds of the bluegrass band Carolina Sky, as they offer a lunchtime MumFest performance from 12-3 pm. Come sit after spending hours on your feet and let the servers take care of you. The Harvey Mansion is offering a new menu with great food selections. Their bartenders are creative too, so come enjoy a few good times here while you are about town.
Turning our attention to this evening, The Harvey Mansion welcomes Joe Brown and the Band, who will bring their message of unity through music to the City of New Bern and make people dance the night away. They will be live under the tent offering the funk, soul and pop sounds that everyone loves, with a flavor of musical expression well seasoned with unique sounds. Musics starts at 8 pm and plays til 11 pm.

Sunday Brunch with Casablanca
Come out this Sunday afternoon to enjoy the tastes of brunch, accompanied by the sounds of jazz and old world music of Casablanca, live on the patio from 12 til 3pm. The band is comprised of a trio of local talents, including Simon Spalding on a host of instruments, Tom, Spellman on guitar and Glenn Durhot on drums.

Closing out MumFest on the patio, with a great sound to go with supper, will be the talented Hank Barbee & The Dust Parade. Offering the music selections from 5-8 pm. All of the live music being offered is found on the patio under the tent. It is a great place to see a show. Come check out the vibe of music on the patio.

On Saturday evening you can enjoy the beach and pop sounds of Ravenz Bru, live at The Brown Pelican 411 Broad St., New Bern, NC from 8pm til 12 am. This event is free, so come out and end day two with a dance and a beer.

Over on the James City side of the bridge tonight, you can enjoy the acoustic offering of the duo known as Stoney Creek. They give up the grooves from 7-10 pm and as always this show is free to the public. Come support local food trucks, local beer, local music and local love by stopping by BrÜopia, located at 1201 Highway 70 E New Bern, NC.

Rockin Around the Region
Jacksonville, NC
For those who like fast cars and screaming guitars, be sure to come out the Beauty & The Beast Car Show, taking place today at the WalMart Shopping Center on Yopp Rd, Jacksonville, NC from 10 am til 4 pm. From 12 pm til 4 pm you will be rocked right with Adam Hill Band live in the lot! The music and good times are free. This is a charity event and it helps several children’s charities in our area, so please donate if you can.

Tonight the star will come out in Jacksonville and shine their light on a trio of local ladies.
Come out to Nick Blacksheep Tavern, 1140 Old Maplehurst Rd., Jacksonville, NC to enjoy the sounds of three up and coming NC artists. Music starts at 8 pm with the sounds of Brandie Muniz, followed by the voice of country Tiffany Elaine, giving up a set of songs from 9:30 til 11 and closing it out will be award-winning vocalist Crystal Fuzzell live from 11 pm til closing. This will be a great night that does not fall short on talent, so come out, shoot some pool, buy some shots and support these local divas tonight.

Ayden and North of New Bern
Adam Hill Band is pulling double duty with a gig tonight at County Line Bar & Grill. Where Ed Daughtry and Trisha Mower welcome folks with a free meal starting at 8 pm. Live music cranks out from 10 pm til 2 am and the establishment welcomes brown bagging. There is a $10 music charge at the door. Ladies are free til 9:30 pm. Come out and get rocked right tonight at 9527 Highway 903 North, Ayden, NC.

Keeping along highway 17 as we leave New Bern, NC, we find our way to Washington, NC and find New Bern’s own classic rockers, The Wannabes. They ill be rocking them right tonight at The Market Street Pub, located at 143 N Market St. Washington, NC. Tonight they get the party started at 10 pm and rock til closing. Come out and enjoy the band and dance to the music.
