~Getting Down Around Town, New Bern~

 

One of the best bands I found on the circuit will be rocking in town tonight. The Adam Hill Band will be rocking in the New Year tonight at BrÚtopia, located at 1201 Highway 70 E, New Bern, NC. Admission is FREE. Music starts at 8 and the band will rock you til 12:30 am.

The Bears, New Bern’s beloved oldies band, will be celebrating with the sold out crowd that signed up to be a part of dinner and a show at Taberna Country Club, located at 401 Taberna Way. Music starts early and ends after midnight with a champagne toast!

3 Day Weekend will be rocking tonight at Monette’s JG Grocery Store, located at 4001 Old Cherry Point Rd., New Bern, NC ,with music starting at 8 pm and all of the classics you love can be heard through 12:30 am. This will be their  11th year and each year is bigger and better! Tonight they will feature special guest Grier “C Boy” Crawford on the drums. The cost for this event is $10.00 at the door!

Looking around town there are a few options to consider. First up you can enjoy the sounds of Merchant’s Road Band live at The Brown Pelican, located at 411 Broad St., New Bern, NC. The good time, feel good music of bluegrass and more starts at 8 pm. The band will rock you with an awesome and eclectic variety of great songs until the New Year! This show is free.

Live at The City Laundry you can enjoy the drag show that never drags with Madame Z’s Festival of Fantasy.

Live tonight at The Double Tree by Hilton, located on South Front Street, New Bern, is offering a 90’s themed party featuring the rocking sounds of The Joe Baes Project. This event is sold out. The gathering begins at 7:30 pm and the band and dj will have the people rocking until 1 am.

For those looking to have their soul soothed as they walk into the new year, then head on down to The Bern Bar, located at 1904 Glenburnie Rd., New Bern, NC. The fun starts early and the music by Ed Prophet will rock you until 12:30 am.

~Along the Coast~

 

4EverAll will ring in the New Year at Floyd’s 1921, located at 400 Bridges St., Morehead City, NC. This duo will rock the crowd on the patio from 9:00 pm til 12:30 am. Live tonight at Off the Hook, located at 105 S 7th St., Morehead City, NC , is an 80’s throw down with the funky and fun band The Spread. (photos from 2016)

If you head out dressed in your finest 80’s wears and big hair, tickets are $5.00 for you. If you are feeling more in tune with today’s fashions, tickets are $10.00.

Just across the way,  Jack’s Waterfront Bar will be the rocking fun sounds of the party band Love Tribe. Tickets to join the fun for this good time are a $10.00 admission. However, they are also offering a private party upstairs for $25.00 per person starting at 8 pm, with a cocktail hour and lots of finger foods. The fun carries on downstairs at 10 pm with the familiar grooves that will get you dancing into the New Year. Music starts at 10 pm and rock til 2 am!

Dick Knight will be celebrating with great music and fun grooves at Southern Salt Seafood Company. This player is a local legend on the scene and offers a great variety of music for your dancing pleasure. Having a look just over the bridge in Beaufort, we find that Last Chance Wranglers Band rocking the folks at Cru Bar & Wines Store, located at 120 Turner St., Beaufort. Music starts at 9:30 pm this evening and the band will keep you rocking til 12:30 am

Just across the way you can enjoy the grooves of Spencer Scholes, an awesome New Bern player, who will be joined by another familiar New Bern talent, Patrick Edwards on bongo.The duo will be rocking into the new year from 9:30 pm til 12:30 am.

Looking around the southern shores region, we find a few more of my favorite band units playing down around Wilmington and beyond. Starting things off in The Calico Room, located at 107 S Front St., Wilmington, NC, you can enjoy my favorite rockabilly band The Phantom Playboys. They will be rocking the room from 8 pm til 12:30 am. Since I won’t be there, I think we should dance now…Here they are with a jumping little ditty…

Since we are speaking about all my favorite things, have you heard one of my favorite jam bands around this great state? Mac and Juice Sextet will be rocking in the New Year with their great grooves at The Whiskey, located at 1 S Front St, Wilmington, NC. Also on the bill tonight is Signal Fire. Admission for this show is $10.00 and Music kicks off at 9:30 pm.

A little bit further south you can enjoy the sounds of the father/ daughter duo, Paid Time Off, featuring Rick & Jenna Leigh Huff. They will be ringing in the new year at Check Six Brewing Company, located at 5130 Southport-Supply Rd SE, Southport, NC. They get the familiar grooves you know and love started at 9:30 pm and rock the crowd until 12:30 am.

Bryan Mayer, New Bern’s beloved country artist, is heading to the Island region of our great state, with his full band for his annual performance at Ocracoke Oyster Company. Located at 875 Irvine Garrish Highway, Ocracoke, NC, they are offering some great dinner specials, live music, great spirits, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight.

Music starts at 8 pm and the party will last til 1 am.

Psylo Joe will be live again tonight at Gaffer’s Sports Pub, located at 1050 Irving Garrish Highway, Ocracoke, NC. The party gets started at 8 pm and Joe will rock you into the New Year with his original take on many of your favorite tunes.

For fans of the NC Symphony, they are offering a concert this evening at Meymandi Concert Hall, located at 2 E South St., Raleigh, NC. You can catch the rhythm of the New Year, with the sweep of the Viennese waltz and the swing of the Big Band.
