Looking to the West there are three acts on the bill at The Pinhook in Durham, NC this evening. According to that events page you can see
Dark Water Rising (Pembroke/Chapel Hill, NC)
“Native Americans who piece together Southern rock full of gospel harmonies, hip-hop inflections and Motown soul with a journeyman work ethic. With bold songwriting and bewitching arrangements, DWR breaks rules effortlessly.”– Sylvia Pfeiffenberger, “Indy Week”
Super Yamba Band (Brooklyn, NY)
Former members of Greensboro’s The Brand New Life in Brooklyn based Afro-Funk/Psychedelic project. Members of Super Yamba Band have also been contributors to groups including Reptar, Yeasayer, Trioscapes, The Afromotive and Mamadou’s Fantastic Band.
Africa Unplugged (Greensboro, NC)
Africa Unplugged moves and connects modern audiences by melding ancient, West African instruments and musical traditions with contemporary, global sounds. With Africa Unplugged, Blues, Funk, R&B, and Soul themes are given new life by the pulsing, pounding hands of a ferocious djembe and dunun section, while catchy guitar riffs, crooning vocals, and familiar grooves give the 21st century ear something it knows, loves, and won’t soon forget. Thanks to the band’s undeniable dance songs and its commitment to the West African tradition of community and audience participation, Africa Unplugged gets crowds singing and dancing as one.
All in all this sounds like an interesting evening of eclectic grooves. The Pinhook is located on Main Street in Durham, NC

For all you hard and heavy rockers, listen up, Primitive Ways presents a show at The Maywood in Raleigh, NC featuring the following acts:
PSYCROPTIC: It’s not every day we get bands from Tasmania visiting Raleigh. I can’t tell you how stoked we are to bring you the tech death mastery of Psycroptic back to town. Tech death often loses the listener in a barrage of notes yet Psycroptic’s hyper-melodic sound does the opposite. Psycroptic is a complex and smooth running machine with a soul of its own.
https://www.facebook.com/psycroptic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bquz9LScP3E
BEYOND CREATION: Progressive tech death from Montreal that incorporates sweeping, soulful passages and cold technical prowess into a package that echoes bands of the genre’s inception. Though relative newcomers to the genre, they’ve used the tried combination of tech death and warm fretless bass to win over both vets and newcomers.
https://www.facebook.com/BeyondCreationOfficial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aM8XoWZeq8
THE ZENITH PASSAGE: The Zenith Passage carries the flame of the Faceless’ 2008 smash hit Planetary Duality, bringing listeners right back to where the unique and enthralling hybrid of Spawn of Posession / Cynic worship left off.
https://www.facebook.com/TheZenithPassage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUkoPTBnhF8
LORELEI: The Triangle’s own killer combo of symphonic deathcore and tech death promises to leave the crowd reeling with just enough time left to recoup before the tour takes the stage.
https://www.facebook.com/LoreleiBand
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_IqEFAx_ao
AETHER REALM: Primitive Ways’ own folk metal heroes descend from the mountains to rally the crowd in support of the killer line-up. Show up early to crowd-surf, throw well-orchestrated hammers, and discuss bear pelt sewing techniques.

Both have decades of experience in the music industry ranging from major artist tours, to television appearances on the Tonight Show and Good Morning America to name a few.
